Course outline

What is the course about?

Using the singing voice in a theatrical context. Presenting a song and audition technique.

What topics will we cover?

Singing technique.
Presentation techniques.
Audition technique.
Repertoire building.
Vocal range.
General Musicianship.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Present three audition songs to a polished standard.
Work through a warm up procedure.
Construct the performance of a song.
Use appropriate vocal qualities
Understand the most important features of musical notation.

What level is the course?

For professionals in theatre who are already experienced in singing.

How will I be taught?

Most of the time in masterclass format; some of the time class teaching.
Students choose their own material.

Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, equipment or books I need to buy)?

What feedback will I get?

Feedback from tutor each week You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

Will I have a chance to give my views on the course?

Yes, please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
