
Learn how to teach elements of aerobic, body conditioning and stretch using music. Learn how to promote healthy living and health and safety. This professional qualification (OCR unit 4) allows you to work in the fitness industry. Prior completion of step 1 necessary. FC 'Full cost' course. Concessionary fees are not available as there is no government funding for this course.
This course leads to qualified exercise to music instructor status. You will learn how to plan, prepare to teach, and deliver safe and effective exercise to music classes.
Additional information
There must be a minimum of 80% attendance in order to pass the course. We recommend that you do not take any other major course leading to a qualification at the same time as doing this, due to the level of commitment required.
Please note that you are required to hold a current First Aid certificate to be able to work as a movement instructor.
The course will provide a progressive learning experience to teach safe and effective classes:
- Teaching methods / sequence skills
- Class structure and management
- Proportion and principles of fitness
- Practical teaching
- Theoretical aspects of aerobics and effectiveness
- Health and Safety issues
- Lesson planning
- Prepare lesson plans effectively to teach Exercise to Music
- Teach safe and effective Exercise to Music classes
- Complete OCR portfolio
- Monitor intensity
- Adjust exercise to suit different levels
Award: OCR Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Exercise to Music
You will need to have completed Teaching Exercise & Fitness (OCR Level 2) before attending this course. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to exercise and a good level of fitness. You also need sufficient writing skills to undertake coursework. If English is your second language it is important that your spoken English is at a suitable level to undertake this course. Please contact Skills for Life for advice.
Application for this course is in two phases:
1) Written application
2) Group advisory interview/workout

You will need to purchase an exercise manual and folder to prepare and file your coursework.
